In addition to composing I am also active as a researcher and writer on various topics of music. Topics of interest include aesthetics and technique of electronic music, mutli-channel sound diffusion systems, performance practice of acousmatic music, analyses of 20th and 21st century works, and New Complexity with particular emphasis on the music of Franklin Cox and Brian Ferneyhough.***

- Brief style analysis on 3 selected works by Jonty Harrison with particular attention paid to spatial relationships in
stereophonic composition and the concept of virtual (fluid) space as a compositional construct
Patterned Repetition and Use of Schemata in Two Works by Franklin Cox and Brian Ferneyhough (2015)
- Analysis of two works (Clairvoyance [Cox] and Superscriptio [Ferneyhough]) that explores the importance of
surface-level schemata that can be recognized through the textural web of highly complex compositional systems
Narrative and Syntax through Neoplatonic Hierarchy in Franklin Cox's viz. for Ensemble (2013)
- An analysis of Franklin Cox's work for large chamber ensemble and how the hierarchical structure of Neoplatonic
thought informs syntactical organization to create a coherent musical narrative.
Quotation and Allusion in the Music of George Crumb and Charles Ives (2010, rev. 2012)
- Comparitive style analysis between Crumb and Ives using multiple examples of quotation in each composers'
output, all viewed through the lens of Peter Burkholder's research on musical quotation
Breaking the Lorca Cycle: An Analysis of George Crumb's Lux Aeterna (2010) (Not available in digital format)
- Analysis of Crumb's Lux Aeterna as as an example of stylistic departure from previous vocal works dating from
1972-71. Special attention is paid to use of text, voice and theatrical performance elements.
